Ayahuasca, the name comes from the language of Quechua, meaning the drink of the souls, or all souls drink. Here in the tradition of the Huni Kuin of Brazil where I am learning we call it Nixi Pae, but she has many many names! Santo Daime, cipo, tea, and in the west many call her grandmother!
It’s main component is DMT, which is only activated if cooked the right way! It has two aspects to it, the vine, and the leaves. When mixed together the right way creates this sacred beverage used by many indigenous tribes of the Amazon rain forest. The sacred knowledge of this brew was passed down by its owner, the anaconda. A spiritual entity of the forest! This brew has been used for thousands of years, and heals not only physical ailments, but diseases of the heart, and diseases of the spirit. Nixi pae is like a mirror of life, you don’t want to drink it if your thoughts are not clean and focused, it can show you many things, and it will show you your life, and the best path for you, since we have many paths to choose from here on Earth.
Depending on who made it, who administers it, who has come into contact with it, she will change her energy. But this medicine has only one force! What changes is the people, and traditions working with her! This medicine has been hidden from the western world for a long time, but indigenous elders see how much we need her in our lives since we lost contact with our own spirits, and the spirits of the earth! Now this medicine is being used around the world, which is also a worry for many elders, because many people are not prepared to work with this powerful medicine.
If someone is not prepared to work with this medicine, the people who drink with them will think it’s the medicine doing the harm, which can never be! This medicine only does good, but like I said, varying with who serves her, can have many aspects to her! This sacred medicine should only be drank and served with pure intentions, she is a spiritual entity way stronger than you or me she goes to the heavens and right back down to the center of the earth, and will kick our butts if we deserve it. This plant is the mother of all plants and I thank her so much for all the beauty she brings to this earth!
